Alameda Little League Families,
Clearly, we are going to have lots of mud in the morning, but we are going to do what we can to get games played. Here is tomorrow’s procedure:
1. All AAA, and AA 9AM games and A Division 10AM games are cancelled, we will not be able to recover the infields for the early games. Please re-schedule those following the procedure used last week.
2. All teams for the remainder of the day should know that getting to the fields at 8AM (I arrive at 7:30AM) to aid in the work to extract water from all four diamonds is imperative. Even if it’s just ONE volunteer per team it will go a long way to make tomorrow work.
3. It is possible that the 11:30AM games will be moved back some, but according to our Local Rules 2A below we can’t wait too long past 11:30AM before we decide to cancel those. That deadline will be NOON. I honestly think that we can get the 11:30AM games in, it really depends on volunteers and some breaks in the weather. The latter determines everything! The next A division game isn't until 1:00, so that helps.
From Local Rules:
A. For weekend games, earlier scheduled games that are cancelled due to weather or field conditions cannot bump games scheduled later in the day (e.g. if the 9:00am game is cancelled, but by 11:30am the fields are ready for play, the teams scheduled for the 11:30am game will take the 11:30am time slot).
4. If you have a generator, please bring it, we have 5 wet/dry vacuums for water extraction on all 4 diamonds, but only two generators. Rakes are also important, steel only, this is mud.
5. Never push mud into grass. We have a product called Quick Dry that will assist us in drying the mud. The goal is to get the standing water removed then hope that rain stops and sun and/or wind assist in the drying process.
6. Many times we have worked hard to get the fields ready, only to have the weather win. Remember, all we can do is our best and hope that it clears just enough to get the games in!
