Alameda Little League Families,
BASEBALL IS BACK!!!!!
On Friday, February 19 the Governor announced that California youth sports, including Little League, may resume activities effective Friday February 26th. The case rates per 100,000 and positivity rates in Alameda County have fallen, and the City of Alameda rates are even lower than the County. Soon schools will be announcing resumption of classroom learning as well.
Please see the link below that outlines the guidelines for Alameda Little League. We are prepared for resumption, but many parents have waited for the news that we received Friday. I call it “Covid Reluctance,” and it is totally justified and understandable. But we want to reassure parents and players that we intend to protect the youth of our community through participation protocols that we established last year. Those protocols will still be observed and enforced by the League.

If you have not registered for the baseball divisions (A through Intermediate), please do so immediately since we will have to end baseball registrations on March 1 in order to evaluate players whose teams did not stay together from 2020. Many teams did in fact stay together, which means that the Managers stayed and kept their teams. Registration is free through credit from last year for those who were registered in 2020. If you were not, or took a reimbursement, the good news is that we reduced fees to $100. T-ball and Farm registrations will continue until April 1.

FAQ’s
Q: At what capacity will Alameda Little League resume? Is this practice only?
A: The league will resume with played games. After the player agent is able to determine the Minor Division balance (possible mergers, team composition, etc.) we can determine if he should place players, or if there is a mini-draft. In the Majors, we may have a draft. Now that we have been given the green light to play games, we will start as planned on April 17th.
Q: What is the league's plan to protect player and spectator health?
A: We will follow these Practice Guidelines which were published last year. These are based on state, county and Little League guidelines.
Q: Do managers and coaches need to be tested?
A: We will use the protocols that our Safety Officer developed.
Q: Do managers, coaches and players need to be vaccinated?
A: It is great if you can get vaccinated against Covid. The league can't require it because of the tiering limitations.
Q: Will bathrooms be available?
A: Yes, and disinfected daily.
Q: Will the snack bar be open?
A: No, the snack bar will remain closed for the 2021 season.
Q: Will parents and fans be able to attend games?
A: Yes, and socially distanced outside the home run fence in the outfield. Infield seating areas will be closed to spectators as they may be used as ‘benches’ when a team is batting.
Thank you and Play Ball!
