Alameda Little League Parents,

The Board of Directors of Alameda Little League has made the decision to end the 2020 season due to the Covid 19 resurgence. This move will be effective August 30, and teams that have continued practicing are asked to discontinue practices by that date. It has become apparent that no games could occur under the State and County rules, and the Board’s decision took into consideration the fact that coaches, players and parents wanted to know when games could be played. Since we have no control over this situation, we felt that ending the season is in the best interest of our community.

 

Alameda Little League is a non-profit organization and is a qualified 501 (c) (3), so parents may elect to donate their 2020 fees back to the League, in which case we will provide documentation of the donation. You may also chose a 50% reimbursement. Reimbursement requests must be received by August 31, 2020. In the event parents do not donate fees back to the League, nor receive a reimbursement, all fees from 2020 will be carried over to the 2021 Spring season. This means that if players elected to stay with their teams this summer, they will not pay for registration next season. Registration fees for twelve year olds who are graduating into the Intermediate Division will also be reduced. All sponsors will also be carried over to the 2021 season. Anyone requesting a 50% reimbursement or are willing to donate their fees need to submit their request to [email protected] by August 31, 2020.

 

As you can imagine, this is a substantial financial hit to the League but the Board felt that this is the right thing to do. The Board also moved to reduce registration fees for new players in 2021 to $100. Our financial position is strong enough to do these things for our community, and we feel strongly that our kids deserve to play the game after such a terrible end to this year’s schedule. Please support our fundraisers next year, we will of course need to raise money to pay for our losses. We look forward to rebuilding our League next season, so please tell the kids that we will be back next year stronger than ever.
