Resumption of Play Update

I know that most of you are anxious to know what we are going to do with our season in Alameda Little League, so I will do the best I can to let you know our thinking. But keep in mind that we are all under the same local, State and Federal procedures, so we must understand that the virus elimination is first and foremost.

The last thing that we want to do is to cancel the season when we can extend the season into June and July, assuming we are flattening the curve by then. This would eliminate District tournaments and All Stars, but our regular season would still work. The first thing that we think about is our children, and we believe that our kids not only want to play again, but they NEED to play again for their physical and emotional well-being. Secondly, the League has already spent over $50,000 with uniforms and field expenses to get the season started. While some may think that we should cancel the season and reimburse the membership, you can see that we would not be able to return more than half of registration fees. With most of you that means merely $62.50, a small amount to gamble that we can make the 2020 season a success.

Therefore, our prior announcement which was made first by Little League International remains in effect, and that is that we will look at this situation constantly, and our hope is that we can resume play toward the middle of May. We will continue to notify you if there are any updates or changes, and we hope that our country can beat this problem. Please stay safe and tell the players that we are not giving up yet!
