I have been in Alameda Little League since 1994 and we have not increased fees since then. As a matter of fact, I don’t know if there has EVER been a fee increase in our program! You have probably read or heard that AUSD has hit us with a huge rental charge for the Major Field at Wood School. We have negotiated that charge to eliminate the need for a custodian to be paid on weekdays, which reduces our rent. Overall, our rental charges for AUSD and City of Alameda Recreation and Park Department fields has steadily increased over the past few years, and we don’t anticipate those increases to change in the future. We have over 850 players in the League and we dominate baseball field use in the City, using 14 of the 20 baseball diamonds in Alameda!
In addition, we are currently negotiating with a local land owner to develop and maintain property large enough to build 4 baseball diamonds. We have allotted $100,000 toward that development so that we can pay for it when needed. We currently have over $200,000 reserved for future needs, we are in a strong position to move forward with development plans. We will continue to raise funds from the community sponsors which has been a major source of funds for our League. We also intend to raise even more funds through special campaigns in the community.
Alameda Little League will still have the lowest registration costs in our California Little League District of 13 cities at $200 per player (if registered before January 1, 2026). We apologize for this inconvenience but it appears that inflation has affected us too. Thank you for your support and understanding of these financial issues that we are facing. As in the past, we will continue to try to have the lowest possible costs for our membership.
