Today the Alameda Little League Board of Directors UNANIMOUSLY passed a resolution to resume our program in August, which is when schools here intend to resume classes. This decision was weighed heavily with consultation from State and local officials who have advised us that distancing rules will stay in place until at least that point. These rules affect players, game officials and spectators. In addition, there is person to person contact and equipment being contacted by multiple people during the game. Our job is to safely teach our children the game of baseball and the life lessons that follow.
All players who were registered for Spring baseball will automatically be placed on the same teams in August (Fall Baseball), unless they advise their Manager that they have decided not to play. In that case they will have the choice of being reimbursed HALF of their registration fee, OR, they may elect to carry over the fees to the 2021 Spring Baseball program. In the event that world circumstances dictate in August that we cannot play, then all fees that were to be applied to Fall Baseball will be carried over to the 2021 Spring Baseball program.
It is our intention to give the kids the opportunity to play the game, because they need this activity for physical and emotional reasons. Nearly everyone who registers for Little League becomes excited about the game, the team, and the overall experience. We recognize this and are working hard to make sure that we do what is right. We have already spent half of our budget on uniforms, fields, pictures and equipment for this year. Had the pandemic occurred earlier we would have been able to reimburse fully, but that’s not what happened.
The Manager of your current team will contact you soon, and we encourage you to participate in August. We will continue to work with our Managers, coaches, umpires, parents, sponsors and players to make this EXTENDED season work out for our youth.
